Many of us associate this time of year with spring cleaning. This might mean taking time out of a weekend or two to pack away our winter clothes and put our spring clothes out. Or we may work in our garages, attics or yards. How about other types of spring cleaning?
I’m spending my spring cleaning sessions to clean up my business and professional life. I started my life/career coaching and nonprofit consulting business this past January after working full-time (i.e. 60-80 hours per week) as a nonprofit fundraiser in large and small organizations for more than 18 years.
If you have a job like this, and many people I know do, you never have time to really sit back and take some time to “clean out” the cobwebs in your mind. Those cobwebs accumulate when we fail to focus on all the challenges and obstacles that hold us back from achieving our personal and professional goals.
My cobwebs came from stress from taking care of a sick parent, and working in a job which was both challenging and extremely stressful. When an opportunity came for me to leave my job and focus on myself, I took the time to really think about who I was and what I wanted to do for a living – more importantly, what I wanted to do in service to others that would also allow me to earn a living and take care of my family. I found a career coach who helped me work through some of those challenges, set specific weekly tasks to help me move forward, and ultimately achieve my goal of leaving my job, becoming a life coach myself, and starting my own business.
I challenge you to set aside some time to not only clean out the cobwebs in your garage, attic, closets, etc, but also to clean out the ones in your mind that might be holding you back from achieving your personal and professional goals. Start today, there’s no time like the present to achieve your goals and have the personal and professional life you want and deserve!
I’d love to help you clean out the cobwebs in your mind! Visit www.NonprofitSupportSolutions.com to find out more.
